How much does it cost?

Please refer to the page Ticket Prices for up-to-date information about pricing. Note that all prices are listed in Swedish Crowns (SEK).

How long is the ticket valid?

The ticket is valid for one month, starting the date of purchase. It’s valid for the journey specified and isn’t tied to any particular departure.

What food options do you offer?

The railway café offers a light selection of sandwiches, wraps, cakes and ice cream.

If you bring your own packed lunch you’re welcome to enjoy it at one of the picnic tables scattered around the station.

What does a “request stop” mean?

A request stop is exactly what it sounds like: The train will only stop if someone requests it.

If you wish to get on the train at a request stop, you should use the white semaphore on the platform. When the wing is raised horizontally it signals to the driver that a stop is requested, while a dropped wing means the train will pass without stopping. If there is no white semaphore on the platform, you can instead raise one arm straight up to clearly signal your intent to get on the train.

If you wish to alight at a request stop, you must inform the conductor. They can be recognised by a blue ribbon in their hat.

Request stops are marked by a cross in the timetable. In some special timetables the cross may be missing, which means that the train won’t stop at all.

During

Can I stand on the platforms on the carriages while the train is running?

In general, yes. Small children should not be left alone on the platforms due to railings having small gaps in them. You may however not stand on a platform currently in use by train staff. Please ask a member of staff if you’re unsure!

In which carriage should I sit?

You can sit in any carriage you want. The ticket isn’t limited to a certain seat or carriage.

Should I take special care not to get my clothes dirty?

Yes, but the risk is generally low. We try to keep the carriages as clean as possible, but there may be traces of oil and grease at the carriage’s gates. Steam locomotives may release small particles of coal and soot during operation.

Are there toilets onboard?

No. Toilets are only available at the stations in Mariefred, Läggesta Nedre, and Taxinge-Näsby

Can I bring strollers, bikes, and otherwise large luggage?

Yes, there’s space for bulky luggage in the freight wagons. They can be found at the very front or end of the train and are usually painted red. Strollers must be folded or placed with the brake applied. The freight wagon cannot be reached while the train is underway.

In some cases, you may need to change trains in Läggesta to get to your desired destination. It’s your own responsibility to make sure that your luggage gets moved.

Can I bring pets?

Yes, but show respect for fellow travelers who may be allergic. Please sit in a 3rd class or open carriage where the interior is more specious and free from padded seats which may tear from claws.

Can I ride your trains while riding a wheelchair?

Usually, yes. Wheelchairs can be accommodated on the platforms on certain carriages, but are usually too wide to be brought inside the carriage. There is a ~20 cm (8 in) height difference between the platform and carriage which we currently don’t have any ramps for bridging.

To ensure a wheelchair-compatible carriage is running in the train you’re planning in riding, please contact us in advance.
